GRADE 6
Grade 6 is an important year. Students need to take responsibility for their own actions and learning so they are working towards being ready for stepping up into secondary school next year. A few reminders are going home today, even though many of the Grade 6’s are completing these already. Parents, it would be great if you supported your child to follow through on the reminders below.
MONDAY
- Homework will be sent home every Monday.
THURSDAY
- P.E. Lessons –All students should be dressed in full P.E. uniform.
FRIDAY
- Please remind your child to bring their homework folder to school every Friday and their “Maths Plus, Mental Maths†book every Friday as well.
- BTN Homework is due on Friday. Summaries need to be completed ready to present to the class.
- Spelling tests are every Friday. Students will be tested on the spelling from their homework booklet.
Other important notes:
Homework:
- Students need to complete some set homework tasks on ‘Reading Eggs’ and ‘Mathletics’ throughout the week.
- Students will also need to finish any incomplete work from their classes.
- I have also been offering students some older EMM lessons to take home to practise the skills they are finding difficult. This is a choice they have, if they want to improve their marks. I would recommend it so they are better able to understand and master these skills
- Please notify the school regarding any absences.
- We follow ‘No Hat, No Play’ policy. If your child is wearing a non-school hat (e.g. an old burgundy one) it is now time to purchase the correct school hat.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me after school.
Quality Teams Excursion
Last week Grade 6’s visited Quality Teams, where they learnt about the different printing processes, the cost of the different processes. The aim of the short excursion was to encourage the grade 6’s to make informed decisions on the most cost effective t-shirt for them. They have decided one the shirt we are going to purchase. The next part, of the process for us is design and sends it to Quality teams, which the grades 6’s are in the process of now. Alongside that the girls will be fundraising to assist in paying for the t-shirts.
